Leading in Times of COVID-19: We Are All Learning Together

By | News | No Comments

“It is during times like this that you will learn what you are made of; this is what you have been preparing for all these years,” Don said last week in a Zoom conversation he leads with a group of new and veteran principals and aspiring administrators. Heads nodded. He went on, “In the most challenging times, transformational leaders are those who step up to the plate. The current Covid19 challenge is the first time in recent history that schools everywhere have been forced to restructure how teaching and learning is conducted.” As the conversation continued, each participant shared the difficult choices and dilemmas they were facing: how to get technology to families who lack access, how to track down students who aren’t participating in distance learning, how to address parent concerns about at-home schooling, and how best to tackle grading.

As the group shared their vulnerabilities, everyone described feelings of overwhelm, especially the weight of leadership on all our shoulders. Leadership Conference 2019

By | News | 3 Comments

EdPodium in collaboration with the Notre Dame de Namur University, California seeks to create a forum for educators in Asia. Our vision is to create an education ecosystem where leaders can come together to have constructive dialogue about how leadership skills can be used to solve the most complex and pressing challenges in the education system. Through this conference, our intention was to facilitate conversations around challenging ideas by bringing leaders from different schools to foster understanding and encourage reflection.

We understand that there is no single solution when faced with challenges and uncertainty, but through discussions, we believe we may gain clearer understanding of the problems and how to better address them. We have gained great insights about the system by listening to the leaders from different school systems and we look forward to strengthening our relationships more to effectively prepare children for the future.
